Tutor: Carole Gray
On this course you will learn to make Stained Glass Copper Foiled Stars to hang in your home. You will have time to make three stars varying in size from 11cm – 19cm. This is a practical course and will include glass cutting, copper foiling and soldering using the copper foiling technique, developed in the Tiffany Studios in the1890s.
No previous experience is necessary.
All the tools and materials required for the course will be supplied. Included in the fee are the materials for one large, one medium and one small star. You can make more stars if time allows, although there will be a charge for the extra materials (payable to the tutor in cash or by cheque on the day). Please bring an apron or overall and wear sturdy shoes.
The tutor will instruct students in the health and safety issues relevant to this course. You must not wear open shoes or have bare legs (even if the weather is warm) in the studio. Do not wear loose clothing or dangly jewellery as it may get caught in machinery. Long hair should be tied back. If you are pregnant, you should consult your GP before enrolling on this course as working with lead based solder can be harmful to the developing baby.
