On this course you will learn how to make a 29cm square Stained Glass Copper Foiled Mirror with a coloured border. You will learn how to cut & prepare glass, copper foiling, soldering and finishing using the copper foiling technique, developed in the Tiffany Studios in the1890s.
You will have a choice of two patterns and a selection of colours.
All the tools and materials required for the course will be supplied.
No previous experience necessary.
There will be a choice of designs & coloured glass provided by the tutor as well as all the other materials needed to create your mirror. Due to time constraints, students will not be able to design their own patterns. All the tools and materials required for the course will be supplied. Please bring an apron or overall and wear sturdy shoes.
The tutor will instruct students in the health and safety issues relevant to this course. You must not wear open shoes or have bare legs (even if the weather is warm) in the studio. Do not wear loose clothing or dangly jewellery as it may get caught in machinery. Long hair should be tied back. If you are pregnant, you should consult your GP before enrolling on this course as working with lead based solder can be harmful to the developing baby.
Carole Gray, is a designer and maker of decorative stained glass, who uses many of the traditional techniques practised by stained glass artists over the centuries to create work which is highly contemporary and decorative.
